Where we're active today
Lightway Charitable Trust's legal charter is broad — but our day-to-day work today concentrates on five areas. Here's what each looks like in practice.
Elderly Care
Home-based medical and social support for the aged — practical help for elderly neighbours managing the everyday realities of ageing.
This includes reaching people directly at home with food and daily essentials when family or mobility make it hard for them to manage alone — and, from September 2026, a place to spend the day in company through Pakal Veedu, our new daytime home for elders.
Palliative Care
Supporting palliative and end-of-life care in the community, and standing behind the sisters who provide it — often quietly, and without enough recognition.
The Trust's inaugural event in February 2026 was built around exactly this: felicitating the palliative care sisters serving Njarakkal and Vypin for their work.
Accident & Injury Support
A helping hand for individuals and families coping with the aftermath of accident-related injuries — including the everyday equipment recovery requires.
Wheelchairs and hospital beds are lent out free of charge, on a temporary basis, to patients recovering from accidents.
Care for the Chronically Ill
Support for people and families managing long-term illness, where care is needed over months and years, not days.
Our free diagnostic camps — like the one Dr. Sinto Joseph led in March 2026 for nerve, bone, and vascular conditions — bring specialist attention directly to patients who might otherwise go without it.
Caregiver & ASHA Worker Support
Recognizing and facilitating the caregivers and ASHA workers who are often the first and most constant point of care in our community.
From felicitation events to everyday collaboration, we work to make sure their work doesn't go unseen.
Pakal Veedu — A Daytime Home for Our Elders
A place to come together, for parents left isolated at home.
Lightway Charitable Trust's newest initiative gives elderly residents of Njarakkal a place to spend the day together — in recreational activities and each other's company — rather than alone at home.
As part of the launch, the Trust will also honour Dr. Sinto Joseph, the nerve-conduction specialist who led its March 2026 medical camp.
